Community Rangers
Make a Difference with Us!
Lookout Credit Union strives to do what our name suggests – look out for our members and the communities we serve. We do this with products and services, but so do other financial institutions. So, what makes us different? The Ranger program is what happens after the branches close on evenings and weekends. Lookout Credit Union Rangers are the volunteers you see out-and-about, doing good. The program provides opportunities for LCU employees to participate in community initiatives and events.
Members and community partners have been watching the employee Ranger program hard at work since 2016. We’ve had many inquire about what we do and how we do it. Now, six years after the introduction of the employee-only program, we’re making it possible for members, family, friends and community partners to get involved!
How it works:
The Lookout Credit Union team will plan a series of events throughout the year. Members, partners and friends will sign up online here. The time, date, location and a description of the event will be provided. Other details relevant to the specific event will be included as well. An email with all the relevant details will be sent to volunteers approximately one week before the event.
At every event, Community Ranger volunteers can enter to win an eBike from Barrie’s Ski & Sports. The more times a Ranger volunteers, the more entries they’ll receive! The drawing will occur in December, after the last event of 2022. There will be a Junior category for minors between the ages of 8 and 16 years old, and another category for adults.
So this means I can bring my children along?
Yes! Children 8 years old and older are invited to participate at most events. If a partnering organization has age restrictions or policies, those specifications will be detailed in the event description.
I’d love to volunteer! Where do I find a list of upcoming events?
Check out our community calendar here. The most recent event, along with the sign up form, can be found here.
What kind of volunteer work will I be doing?
Each event will be different. Common themes will be neighborhood beautification and efforts aimed at feeding the hungry.
